Psalm 22 “The Song of the Messiah”

The Psalm reveals the Theology and Doctrine of the Messiah

    It has 4 Parts:
        The question and dilemma vs 1,2.
        The burden and dilemma vs 6-8.
            The answer and affirmation vs 9,10. (Psalm 139:13-16) “He gave you, me, us life!”
        The request and dilemma vs 11-18.

        The answer and affirmation (Deut. 31:8-8; Heb. 13:1-6).
            “He will never desert you nor forsake you”
        The response of “The Saved” vs 22-31
            I will tell! What? (Psalm 107; Philippians 2:1-11; Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 4:9-12; Romans 10:17.)

                My Brethren (vs 22)
                The assembly (vs 22; 25) Heb. 10:22-25; The Ekklesia.
                Those who fear God (vs 23)

                Proverbs 1:7- “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

                Acts 10:1, 2- “Now there was a certain man at Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort, a devout man, and one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people, and prayed to God continually.
                The descendants – of Jacob and Israel (vs 23;30)
                The afflicted (vs 24 & 26)

                Luke 4:16-21- “And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book, and found the place where it was written, ‘THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO ST FREE THOSE WHO ARE DOWNTRODDEN, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD,’ and He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him. And He began to say to them, ‘Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.’”

                Matthew 11:2-6 – “Now when John in prison heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples, and said to Him, ‘Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?’ and Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Go and report to John what you hear and see: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT AND THE LAME WALK, THE LEPERS ARE CLEANSED, AND THE DEAF HEAR, AND THE DEAD ARE RAISED UP, AND THE POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. And blessed is he who keeps from stumbling over Me.’”
                Those who seek Him (vs 26)
                All the ends of the earth (vs 27) Acts 1:8
                All the families of the nation (vs 27) Matt. 29:16; Mark 16:6; Acts 1:8.
                The Kingdom
                The worshippers (vs 22; 23; 25; 26; 27; 29;30; 31) John 4:19-24
                Those who owe him (25) Matt 6:12
                The Dead – (vs 29) Philippians 2:10; I Pet. 3:9-19
                The coming generation (vs 30)
                To a people who will be born (vs 31) Matt. 16:18.

                     The answer and affirmation vs. 3-5
        The Holiness of God “Yet thou art holy.”
        Why? (Deut. 6)
