News You Can Use
Good afternoon All,
A gentle reminder that we will be having our Live Facebook service this Sunday, April 5th starting at 9 am in the Old Chapel. Mark Bendiksen will lead us in worship followed by Carol Jean with Children's Moments. Pastor Aubrey will have a short message with Mark closing us with the benediction. Communion will be offered from 9 -10 am in the Sanctuary to those who do not have the items at home to participate. We look forward to our time together this Sunday and pray all are doing well.
Much gratitude and appreciation to Pastor Mark Bendiksen and Nicole Gueck for making music videos for the enjoyment of our congregation during these difficult times. We have posted both video and audio files for the first two songs, “Who You Say I Am” and “Fade Away”, on our website. Stay tuned, as new selections will be posted weekly. We encourage you to view and/or listen to these beautiful songs as only Mark and Nicole can provide.
To find the songs, just scroll to the bottom of the Home page and click on the blue box labeled Joyous Noise. You will then see the page where you can select your choice: video or audio of these beautiful songs. Enjoy. Share.
We had over 450 views from last Sunday.
We also encourage you to tune into 97:3 (KAGC) from 10:00 - 10:30 am to listen to our weekly Broadcast from The Zion Church of Kurten.
Finally if you have a need or are aware of anyone in need please don't hesitate in contacting us for assistance.
Over the last several days, many have sensed God calling His people to prayer during this current worldwide pandemic. This calling is not just for a few but for many. We, here at Zion, hope to be joining up to 39 other churches to observe 40 days of prayer under the auspices of the Save Our Street Ministry. The prayer period will run from March 29th through May 7th. Each local Church can select a day of the month in which it commits to pray for 24 hours. They commit to having individuals from their church praying during each hour of that day. Zion Church will need a minimum of 24 individuals or families to complete this option. As we learn more and get a schedule for our participation date, we will make available a sign-up sheet for those who wish to participate in this prayer vigil.
It has been a blessing to hear from so many of you through, calls & texts a resounding strength, hope, and positivity.
Our God and faith in Him will see us through all of this.
Please continue to pray for Danny Alewine, April Smith & Tammy & Lewis Vaca (Donna Lester's daughter and son-in-law; health issues) our church, Nation, and leaders as we charter through these trying times.
Allyson and I continue to maintain our regular office hours. If you have or know of anyone who has a need do not hesitate in contacting us.
Grace & Peace,
Good evening Zion clubber families,
In a joint decision with the Zion Elders this evening, and in respect to the guidelines set for group meetings by those managing COVID19 containment, we have decided to cancel our Awana Wednesday club nights until after Easter, April 15th. Since so many of our Awana servants are “elderly” we are trying to keep their best interest in mind. We fully intend to hold our closing activities of the fourth Pacer party, Store night and closing ceremonies during our worship service on April 26th. A fellowship meal/potluck lunch will follow the service. This will mean several things:
1) We will go on the honor system so that our clubbers can work on their handbooks from home; when you are sure they can recite and understand the verse(s)) for each section in their books, you can sign and date it for them. Please make sure they also completely fill in the required blanks for each lesson. Show them you can learn it as well; that will be fun for both of you. When they bring their books back, we will officially record their verses in our computer records.
2) We will not count these weeks against “perfect attendance” for the year.
3) You will receive an email from me to let you know where your clubber is in their handbook and what needs to be finished to earn their handbook award for this year. Remember, the real purpose is for them to learn God’s word and to serve Him.
4) If you have questions or need assistance getting any of these things done or need to pick-up their handbook, we will have a skeleton crew at the church tomorrow night from 6PM until 7PM. I can also help you via email or phone at any time. (979) 820-0804.
Thank you all for understanding our decision, please stay safe and well!
Sadly we are going to cancel this month's Pot Luck scheduled for March 29th. We will continue to have and meet for our regular Sunday morning Bible classes and worship.
Obviously this is a prayerful time. Our families, leaders, neighbors, nation, etc are all in our prayers. I am reminded that God is still on the throne and Christ reigns. The apostle Paul reminds us "That God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Looking forward to our worship and fellowship Sunday.
