Grace & Peace,
Good evening Zion clubber families,
In a joint decision with the Zion Elders this evening, and in respect to the guidelines set for group meetings by those managing COVID19 containment, we have decided to cancel our Awana Wednesday club nights for the remainder of this year until the fall.
Since so many of our Awana servants are “elderly” we are trying to keep their best interest in mind. We fully intend to hold our closing activities of the fourth Pacer party, Store night and closing ceremonies during our worship service on April 26th. A fellowship meal/potluck lunch will follow the service. This will mean several things:
1) We will go on the honor system so that our clubbers can work on their handbooks from home; when you are sure they can recite and understand the verse(s)) for each section in their books, you can sign and date it for them. Please make sure they also completely fill in the required blanks for each lesson. Show them you can learn it as well; that will be fun for both of you. When they bring their books back, we will officially record their verses in our computer records.
2) We will not count this closure against “perfect attendance” for the year.
3) You will receive an email from me to let you know where your clubber is in their handbook and what needs to be finished to earn their handbook award for this year. Remember, the real purpose is for them to learn God’s word and to serve Him.
4) If you have questions or need assistance getting any of these things done or need to pick-up their handbook, we will have a skeleton crew at the church tomorrow night from 6PM until 7PM. I can also help you via email or phone at any time. (979) 820-0804.
Thank you all for understanding our decision, please stay safe and well!
