AWANA
It always seems that after the busy holiday schedule things get even busier for all of those involved with Awana and this year is no exception. The last Sunday of January we had our fourth annual Awana Sunday celebration. What a great way to let our whole church family know what Awana is all about. Then we kicked off our Adopt-a-Club contest, raising money for our sister Awana club in Paraguay. It's the boys against the girls in each club with the winners having a party at the end of the contest. Julie Hunt, our Bible quizzing coach, started working with the T&T clubbers right after we returned from the Holiday break. The five member team will compete at the Bible quizzing competition on Saturday, February 18.
"Driver's, Please Start Your Engines!" The most excitement is being caused by all the preparations for our third annual Awana Grand Prix. The Grand Prix Race is scheduled for Saturday March 3. We have been checking out car kits for the past two weeks and more have been ordered. Car kits are free to all children 2 years through high school even if not involved with Awana at Zion. Any adult interested in participating in the race can purchase a car kit for $5.00. So invite family, friends, and neighbors to join us. We would love to see our Awana Grand Prix grow. Albert Rhodes has already held one workshop to help anyone with designing and cutting out their car. A second one is planned for Saturday, February 4, at 5:00 p.m. If you are in need of assistance with your car let Albert or Carol Jean know that you will be attending the workshop. Remember that Zion Church of Kurten Awana Club is participating in the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor program and your help is needed. A flyer with our bar code is available. Take the flyer with you the next time you go shopping at Kroger and when checking out have them scan the Awana bar code when they scan your Kroger card. (You only have to have them scan the Awana bar code one time.) Then each time you shop at a Kroger our club will receive points and at the end of their fiscal year our club will receive a donation from Kroger based on how many points have been credited to our account.
